Joining a DAAR Committee has always been a great way to make new contacts, learn about the new trends in the industry, and have a hand in shaping the Association's direction. If you'd like to get more involved with DAAR by participating on a committee or simply have some great ideas you'd like to see implemented, please fill out the DAAR Committee Interest Form or contact the staff liaisons noted below via email.
AFFILIATE: Charles Fincher, Chair, Alecia Moroz, Liaison
Comprised of Affiliate Members, the committee plans and coordinates events which will enhance the Affiliate Member's ability to network with REALTORĀ® members. Increases awareness of our Affiliate Members and works to increase our Affiliate Membership Base. Meets monthly as needed.
AWARDS: Tania Gonda, Chair, Alecia Moroz, Liaison
Develops award programs and award criteria for the Association. Compiles and distributes yearly awards for the Honor Society. Consists of a minimum of 8 member representatives from all parts of the county, with no more than one member from any one office. Meets approximately 5 times a year
BUDGET & FINANCE: Rick Cockrill, Chair, Jeanette Newton, Liaison
Reviews and monitors the financial position of the Association. Makes recommendations to the BOD on financial matters and recommends budget adjustments throughout the year. Prepares the Annual Budget in September for the following year, subject to approval by the BOD. Works closely with staff to assure that the Associations funds are invested properly.
COMMUNICATIONS & TECHNOLOGY: Tony Arko, Pat Billheimer, Chair - Christine Windle, Liaison. Provides leadership to the staff in the development of the website, periodic surveys and communication to the membership using the latest technologies. Establishes press releases on Association activities and promotes the benefits of using a REALTORĀ® to the general public. Meets monthly as needed.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Sue Puleo, Chair, Alecia Moroz, Liaison.
Provides leadership in sponsoring and implementing volunteer civic and community activities of the Association. Encourages participation by general membership in programs and projects to address local community concerns such as shelter-related projects. Organizes and produces the Annual Charity Auction and Dinner. Meets as needed.
EDUCATION: Melissa MacKimm, Chair, Allan Marteney, Liaison
Develops and presents educational and informational programs for the membership. Coordinates the educational instructors, the Lunch Matters program, new member orientation courses, and other industry-related programs. Meets monthly.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS: Beckwith Bolle, Chair, Christine Windle, Liaison. Monitors local, state & national proposed legislation; recommends and coordinates appropriate call to actions with the State and National Associations. Keeps membership informed on proactive issues and promotes involvement. Makes recommendations to the BOD on new legislative issues, prioritization of issues and RPAC funds contributions. Represents the Association at legislative functions. Meets monthly.
GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE: Trudy Goodwin, Chair, Allan Marteney Liaison
Investigates written complaints by members and the public to determine if a formal hearing is appropriate concerning alleged violations of the By-laws, Code of Ethics and Association rules and regulations, as well as arbitration requests. All members of this committee must complete the VAR Professional Training Seminar annually. The committee members should be experienced and well-respected members and must be approved by the BOD. Meets as needed.
EVENT PLANNING: Alecia Moroz, Liaison
Plans and presents membership events including monthly Networking Matters, Installation and Honor Society Induction. Plans special social events as requested by the President and or BOD. Meets monthly.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: Sandy Fletcher, Chair, Allan Marteney Liaison
Serves as a pool of potential panel members for the Association's Ethics and Arbitration Hearings. Conducts and/or oversees the New Member Ethics Program and communicates NAR policy to the membership. All members of this committee must complete the VAR Professional Training Seminar annually. The committee members must be experienced and well-respected members and must be approved by the BOD. Service on the BOD or Grievance Committee is a pre-requisite for participation in this committee. Meets as needed.
RPAC CAMPAIGN: Mike Wagner, Chair, Christine Windle, Liaison
Organizes the RPAC Fund Raising Campaign. Coordinates with state committee and promotes member awareness of the need for fundraising for REALTORĀ® political issues. Meets monthly.
GREEN REAL ESTATE WORK GROUP: Christine Windle, Liaison. Members interested in green real estate develop programs designed to raise awareness and increase member resources on green real estate issues. Projects include a web-based Green Real Estate Took Kit, events for DAAR's Green Month, providing input into MRIS green codes and monitoring local legislative issues of interest pertaining to energy conservation. ,
COMMERCIAL EXCHANGE GROUP: Tom Morrissey, Chair, Alecia Moroz, Liaison. Serves as a forum for DAAR's Commercial Members to exchange information on emerging issues that impact commercial real estate. Develops programs designed to encourage commercial member participation in DAAR.
DIVERSITY WORK GROUP: Christine Windle, Liaison. Organizes events and programs for Housing Diversity month, provides for discussion on cultural diversity and sharing of ideas and innovative approaches on cultural diversity.
GROW DAAR TASK FORCE: Jackie Lawlor-Campiti, Chair, Alecia Moroz, Liaison. Develops programs and resources designed to improve member recruitment and retention.
